The body weight set point theory is the idea that your body likes to be at a certain weight.

After dieting, the body will regain weight until it gets back to this set point.

Here’s a video explaining the set point theory in greater detail and why it is a real phenomenon.

This theory was first put forward in 1982.

The theory basically explains that the body has a predetermined weight that it will defend.

This is why dieting doesn’t work for long-term weight loss.
