What Is Interval Dieting?

A few years ago I registered the domain IntervalDieting.com.

I was going to offer a free report about a dieting strategy I’ve successfully used in the past.

I still may do this at some point…

For now, I’ll create a brief outline here in this brief blog post.

The concept is simple, but effective.

Like interval training, you are alternating periods of high intensity with periods of rest.

  • The high intensity portion = periods of low calories.
  • The rest portion = eating at maintenance.

Like interval training, the intense portion is harder than you can maintain for long periods of time.

In this case…

You would eat lower calories per day than would be optimal for a longer period of time.

Target calories per day during this period is 8-10 calories per pound of your target body weight.

This is lower than ideal…

…but works well for 4-7 day “diet sprints”.

After the sprint, you go back to eating at maintenance for 1-2 weeks.

The goal is to reach a new low in body weight at some point during each 4-7 day low calorie period.

Works well when structured like this.

And…

It turns fat loss into a game.

This is just a brief outline.

Note: This approach works with any diet, but I prefer a High Carb Low Fat style diet.

It is very difficult for your body to convert carbs to fat.

The majority of the fat stored on your body is from dietary fat (we’ve know this for many years).

When fat is drastically reduced and carbs are increased?

You boost the metabolism without gaining weight.

You obviously can’t eat unlimited calories…

…but this style of eating gives you much more wiggle room calorie-wise.

I know ketogenic and low fat diets are trendy.

I just believe that this approach is more effective.
