I am not a vegan, but this past year I drastically reduced my meat consumption and fat intake.

The reason I chose to do this was the leanest and healthiest guy I know eats a low-fat diet.

What is funny is that I’ve been a full-time fitness writer for over a decade now.

I’m friends with a lot of guys who STARTED the paleo and primal (and now keto) diets.

I was there from the beginning.

But, low-fat diets are so effective for heart health they have been shown to REVERSE coronary heart disease.

Here’s a 99-year-old heart surgeon (now 103) talking about why a low fat diet is your best bet for a long life.

His biggest advice is to keep cholesterol down.

He is recommending a vegan diet.

I don’t follow a vegan diet, but most of the meals are plant-based.

Either way, I’d highly recommend keeping the fats low.

I realize the popularity of the keto diet is at an all-time high.

I’m worried about the possible long-term cardiovascular effects we are going to see in 10-15 years.
