I remember reading an old dieting article that said something along these lines:

“Next time you are Hungry? Reach for a bowl of carrots instead of raiding your refrigerator for ice cream.”
This is TERRIBLE advice!
A bowl of carrots is absolute torture if you are hungry. If a bowl of carrots satisfies you… you weren’t that hungry to begin with.
Honestly…
Just typing the phrase “bowl of carrots” makes me hungrier (and slightly angry).
Another piece of jacked-up advice…
“What you think is hunger, could be dehydration. If you are hungry, drink more water!”

We aren’t stupid.
I’m guessing 99.9% of the population can tell the difference between hunger and thirst.
Okay, maybe hydrating will help a bit…
…but even my cat can tell the difference between hunger and thirst.
Violet’s claws come out when water (or carrots) are offered instead of canned cat food.

I think successful diets need lots of foods that hit the middle ground.
- Tastier than carrots.
- Less calorie-dense than ice cream.
I follow a high carb low-fat diet.
I always have things like pretzels and Corn Pops cereal on hand.

I don’t eat this stuff every day.
Although…
When I first began implementing High Carb Fat Loss I did eat like this daily and lost body fat.
I just try these days to eat mainly whole foods when possible (healthiest way to eat over the long term).
But…
NEVER a bowl of carrots <— That snack causes depression and ruins lives.

*** Celery is another home-wrecker.
Always make sure you have “middle ground” snacks on hand (foods that taste good to you but aren’t extremely calorie dense).
They aren’t ideal for every meal…
