How to Adjust Workout Intensity for Fat Loss

There are a couple of muscular guys in my gym I see each time I’m there, who walk on the treadmill after lifting.

They each probably have 30-40 pounds of fat to lose and walk for about an hour.

Here’s the problem…

They walk so slowly that it is like viewing something in slow motion.

I think people are too paranoid about muscle loss when doing cardio.

I get it…

If you want to ensure that you maintain as much muscle as possible, walking is a decent choice.

I actually think starting with HIIT followed by walking is the best route.

Here’s a diagram from my cardio course, Visual Impact Cardio.

cardio intensity for fat loss

  • Intense exercise like HIIT done on cardio machines RELEASE stored body fat into the bloodstream .
  • Slow and steady cardio BURNS this fat without risk of muscle loss.

But…

This walking should require at least a LITTLE effort.

Try and have a spring in your step.

You want the HIIT part to get the heartbeat up…

…and use steady state walking cardio to keep the heartbeat up without expending a ton of effort.

This walking pace should be just below the point where you begin feeling a burn in your legs.

A faster pace than EASY.

A slower pace than HARD.

Want to master cardio machines in your gym?

Cardio machines allow you to fine-tune intensity and measure effort and improvement.

If you know what you are doing….

You can rapidly drop stubborn body fat.

Many people believe HIIT workouts are the quickest way to burn fat rapidly. Other people think you can target body fat better when training at a lower slow and steady state like walking on a treadmill. I\'ll cover why I believe the best workout intensity for losing fat is a combination of the two types of cardio. #workoutintensitychart #workoutintensityfullbody #workoutintensityabs #workoutintensityfatburning #fatlossmen #fatlossworkout #fatlossscience #fatlosstips #fatlossbeforeandafter
